Tomball Night Recap

On August 4th the city of Tomball held its 51st Annual Tomball Night presented by HCA Houston Healthcare – Tomball. I was happy to team up with AAA for a special Kids’ Helmet Donation Event in our district! In our past event held on August 4th, we distributed a total of 224 helmets to attendees. These helmets were generously supplied through the support of the Texas Medical Association’s Hard Hats for Little Heads prog Texas Children’s Hospital and AAA.

HB 2012 in Effect

Members of the Republican Women of Gregg County Club spoke last week to school districts in Gregg County, Longview & Pinetree ISD, about a donation of our National Motto posters in conjunction with HB 2012 (88 #lege) and SB 797 (87 #lege) Both Boards were excited to receive and will proudly display.

Last session, the Legislature enacted SB 797. That bill required that, if a poster displaying the national motto were donated to a school, the poster be displayed in a conspicuous place. Following the implementation of this bill in the fall, numerous teachers contacted our office inquiring about the possibility of passing comparable legislation to permit them to showcase the national motto in their classrooms. This session Senator Hughes and I were happy to get a bill signed into law that clarifies that it is permissible for teachers to display a copy of the national motto within their classroom.
