Capitol Update: Standing Firm in the Face of Walkouts

Capitol Update: Standing Firm in the Face of Walkouts

Capitol Update: Standing Firm in the Face of Walkouts 1024 536 Dr. Tom Oliverson

Friends,

I’m sure you’ve seen the news of Texas House Democrats fleeing the state. They have done this before, and as history shows, it only delays the good work we are elected to do for the people of Texas—it achieves nothing.

The Texas House and Senate have decided to adjourn Sine Die if we cannot reach a quorum by Friday. Governor Abbott has signaled he will call a second special session with the same agenda.

I will not allow this to dampen my spirit, and I encourage you to do the same. Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” This is the mindset I am keeping as I work to represent my constituents and champion legislation that strengthens Texas values.

Just this week, I filed new legislation—HB 295—to prohibit state agencies from referring to Judea and Samaria as the “West Bank” in official materials, a term that distorts history and misrepresents Texas’s steadfast support for Israel. Texas must stand for historical and biblical truth.

You can count on me to always work tirelessly for our state’s best interests and to uphold the values that make Texas strong.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me or my staff with any questions or concerns: (281-255-0615) or District130.Oliverson@House.Texas.Gov.

God Bless,

Tom Oliverson, M.D.
Republican State Representative
House District 130
